A Colourful Partnership: Behr Brightens Our Training Centre
We often say that the work of Community Builders is truly a community effort, as we are supported by so many remarkable partners who offer assistance in many forms. Behr Paint Company is one of our trusted supporters, and we are so grateful for their generosity.
Right from the outset, as we built our Skilled Trades Training Centre, Behr® was here to help us by providing paint for our new workshop, offices and classroom areas. As a social enterprise construction company, Community Builders directs proceeds from our paid building projects to fund Skilled Trades training for people with barriers to employment. You can imagine that budgets are tight as a not-for-profit organization, which makes us even more grateful to receive funding, in-kind donations and supportive expertise from external groups.
BEHR® has recently been voted Canada’s Most Trusted for Interior and Exterior Paint and Exterior Stain. The BrandSpark Most Trusted Award is one of the largest consumer-voted studies of its kind, surveying tens of thousands of shoppers across hundreds of shopping product and services categories. The awards have become a benchmark of credibility, guiding consumer choice and strengthening brand confidence year after year. It is very meaningful for Community Builders to be associated with such a highly regarded brand and to allow our trainees to work with top-quality suppliers and building materials during their skilled trades training. BEHR® paint is exclusively sold at the Home Depot Canada, so through this national retailer, Community Builders can source BEHR® paint whenever we are hired for renovation and construction projects.
This spring, Community Builders further expanded its Simcoe County training centre and offices, which were built entirely by trainees in our program. Over 12 days, the team framed, drywalled, mudded, installed flooring, doors & trim, and finally painted, totally transforming our facility. Once again, Behr offered a helping hand, providing all the paint for this multi-room renovation. Having the newly configured space is a boon for our growing workforce, and this renovation was a wonderful legacy project for the spring cohort, helping launch their careers in construction.
