We are thrilled to share some incredible momentum for our northern expansion! Sault Ste. Marie City Council has officially approved a $300,000 grant to support Community Builders Construction as we establish a brand-new local operational hub.
This funding accelerates our mission to provide high-quality construction services while delivering paid, hands-on skilled trades training for individuals facing barriers to employment.
Key Highlights of the Expansion:

Local Job Creation: The new operational hub will create 10 to 20 full-time equivalent jobs right here in the community.

Empowering Trainees: We will welcome and train 48 applicants each year, offering them paid training, certifications, essential tools, and wrap-around supports.

Economic Boost: The project is projected to generate roughly $1 million in local economic impact during its first two years through wages, industry procurement, and local spending.

Strong Community Backing: We are incredibly grateful for the letters of support from local anchors, including the Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association, the District Social Services Administration Board (DSSAB), and Sault Community Career Centre.
Building Up, Not Competing: Our programming is designed to complement—not compete with—existing local contractors. By preparing job-ready workers, we are actively building a pipeline to help solve the region’s current skilled labor shortages.
